The school meeting

The school meeting is the principal authority of the school. All important decisions are taken there. As a part of the school's direct democracy, less important decisions are often taken by committees set up by the school meeting. The committees are open to anyone who is willing to take part in them.

Every pupil and employee at Det frie Gymnasium is a member of the school meeting and everyone has one vote. The organization of our direct democracy aims at ensuring that everyone at the school will always have as much influence as possible on the school as well as on their own situation. It also aims at avoiding all kinds of paternalism. Therefore, everyone shall contribute to spreading the democracy and take actively part in it.
