Teacher-pupil relationship
Our direct and egalitarian democracy implies that pupils and teachers meet as equal human beings with mutual respect. That applies in the educational relationship, in the class room, but also in the daily exchanges outside the class room. Therefore, there is no staff room, which means that pupils and teachers share each others company, e.g. in the canteen - the common room of the school.
In order to emphasise the egalitarian relations between teacher and pupil, we have no traditional parents' evenings, but information evenings arranged by the pupils where the parents are invited to visit the school. The interrelations at Det frie Gymnasium are an exchange between equals.
