In the rear building on the ground floor you will find the canteen. The canteen serves breakfast at ten and warm food, salads and "build-up-your-own-sandwich" at noon. The prices are varied and low. You can also buy a variation of sodas, fruit and cake in the afternoon.
The canteen cooks mostly vegetarian and always organic food which is based on a sustainable economic and tolerant policy. Most of the groceries are delivered by bike.
The canteen is open between 8 and 4 o'clock and is managed by Warren who is a professional kitchen chef.
Teachers without limits
Det frie Gymnasium is one of the few schools in Denmark where the teachers don't have a staff room. Students and teachers eat together in the canteen, where they of course also attend the morning meeting sessions. There important messages are given on a daily basis. This leads to a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, where students and teachers can easily contact each other, small talk and meet over a cup of coffee. The canteen as a place is more than an area for eating your lunch - we call it the heart and core of the school. Here all shared activities are held, such as cultural performances, lectures, "Friday Cafés", school parties etc.
